2018 Beneficiary

2018 Beneficiary

Traverse City – Nominations closed November 17th for our 2018 beneficiary selection process. The Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses board met yesterday to review each of the seven nominations, and rate each selection based on our outlined criteria. Although this year proved to be the most difficult selection process yet, we’ve selected our 2018 beneficiary.

The Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses board is proud to announce our support and official selection of Erin Banton & Family of Traverse City.

In June 2015, at age 34, Erin was diagnosed with stage I Breast Cancer. From the start, she has fought with bravery, love, and grace; determined to show cancer her true strength.
With the support from our amazing community and her family, Erin came out on top.

Less than two years later, in May 2017, Erin was diagnosed with stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Without knowing exactly what to expect, Erin and Travis will likely encounter extra medical expenses and loss of wages at their full time jobs as they will be caring for their three amazing boys, supporting one another, and putting Erin’s health first.

Travis and Erin have been humbled by the outpouring of support they’ve received and want to make sure each one of you know how genuinely grateful they are for your love and prayers. They carry them through the tough days and remind them that Team Banton isn’t going to quit!

We will be releasing more information soon.

This is Sean Adam McDonald. He is 34 years old and has recently been diagnosed with non-small cell Stage 4 lung cancer. Sean is the sole provider for his family which consists of his loving wife and 4 beautiful daughters. They live in Traverse City, MI.

Sean is unable to work and support his family. Being on his feet aggravates his lungs causing severe coughing fits and vomiting. The doctors believe it was hereditary and say there is nothing he did or could’ve done to prevent this, especially since he is not a smoker or drinker. They have given him 12 months to live with treatment. This is literally a matter of life and death.

Sean is without health coverage. His extended family is trying to line up as many services as possible for Sean and his family. Unfortunately, this is taking much longer than expected.

He and his family need our support now. Sean desperately needs money to pay for medical bills, prescriptions, food, rent, utilities, and medical tests, such as an MRI or CT scan which require cash payments.

if you can help at all, please do Sean and family are very grateful for any help you might be able to provide. Thank you for your love, support and prayers. God Bless You, the McDonald Family

Officially on track to nonprofit status!

We are officially on track to nonprofit status! We had our first meeting of incorporators today to approve the Articles of Incorporation and elect board officers. We will be filing with the IRS for 501 (c)3 status very soon.

Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses Inc will serve as a nonprofit for much more than just an annual hockey game. Our vision includes assisting and supporting our heroes in public safety, creating a scholarship fund for kids who are interested in playing hockey who may not otherwise be able to afford to, continuing our annual hockey event to assist a local family in need, and adding other events such as softball or golf outings. We are very excited to watch this nonprofit grow!
