About Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses Inc.
Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses first laid down roots in late 2013. The idea was pitched by Tony and Sara Posey of Traverse City. Tony is a long time hockey fan and Captain with Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department. When one of their own in the public safety community (The Dunklow family) needed help with their then 2 year old son, who was diagnosed with eye cancer, they knew they needed to step up to help. A charity hockey game between local police, fire, EMS, and military first responders was born.
The first event was held in January 2014, and it was a huge success. We knew we had something here that was bigger than we could have imagined, and the opportunity to continue the event as well as branch out into other fundraising events was a must.
Grand Traverse Guns N Hoses, Inc. was officially incorporated during the 2015 year and became a non-profit organization whose mission is to help local individuals and families struggling with illnesses. Further, our mission supports the development of local youth hockey through scholarships and continuing to pay it forward in our community through other events. Our organization consists of a 7 member governing board that meets monthly to both plan events and further the missions of our organization, ultimately helping those in their time of need. We continue to work towards our goal of achieving 501(c)3 status, and hope to finalize that in 2017. If you would like more information, please feel free to e-mail us!
